Developing a quality assurance framework for web-enhanced courses
Presentation by Alison Blair, e-learning co-ordinator, from Australian Catholic University. Discussed the development of a framework for quality WE units following an AUQA audit that found inadequate monitoring of WE provision (both blended learning and full online provision). Essentially following the directive that all units must offer an element of WE provision, they developed Faculty and School-based site templates (institution-based templates were found to be to rigid and difficult to update) and setting rationales and expectations about use of sites to students, getting rid of empty content areas or posting holding statements. Not really much more to say about this, other than they do perform systematic monitoring to ensure templates and rationales are being adhered to, and the difficulty in getting staff to attend professional development for e-learning sessions.
